As an experienced plastic surgeon with a passion for facial rejuvenation, I’ve worked with many patients to help them achieve their facial aesthetic goals with a facelift.

A facelift is a highly personalized procedure that can significantly boost confidence and restore a youthful appearance. If you’re considering a facelift, here are a few of the top things you should know and consider before booking a consultation.

Understanding What a Facelift Can and Cannot Do

A facelift is designed to address visible signs of aging in the lower face and neck, such as:

  • Sagging skin along the jawline (jowls)

Choosing The Right Surgeon

Selecting a plastic surgeon with experience in facial rejuvenation is critical for achieving natural, lasting results. When researching surgeons, consider:

Preparing For Your Procedure

During a consultation at CAPS, you’ll have the opportunity to meet one-on-one with your plastic surgeon. This is a dedicated time for you to ask any questions you may have, learn more about the procedure, and together, create a personalized treatment plan to reach your goals. Many of our patients have said they found it helpful to do the following:

  • Research the procedure and come with an understanding of what’s involved and what the recovery process is like. We’ll discuss your treatment and financing options and provide tips for a smooth recovery.

  • Come with realistic expectations of what a facelift can achieve. We’ll evaluate any problem areas, discuss your goals, and determine if a facelift is the right fit.

  • Be prepared to discuss your medical history and lifestyle habits.

Understanding The Recovery Process

At CAPS, we utilize the most advanced facelift techniques to allow for a smoother recovery. However, you should still plan for downtime. Most patients experience swelling and bruising for the first one to two weeks, with full results becoming visible over several months.

  • First week: Rest and limit activity while swelling and bruising peak.

  • Weeks 2-4: Gradually resume normal activities and light exercise.

  • After one month: Most swelling subsides, and results continue to improve.

  • Three to six months: Full healing and optimal results are visible.
